10 tips for learning vocabulary

When you learn a new word, learn the whole word family - it will help the words to stick in your brain!

Write new words on Post-Its and stick them where you'll see them everyday.

Use new words in a sentence.

Learn 10 new words a week.

Visualise associations. For example, draw on similarities with English or imagine a picture or scene to go with the new vocabulary.

Review often! Test your memory of new words an hour later, a day later, a week later...even a month later! Each time you revisit the new word, the quicker you will be able to remember it.

Make a matching game! Write the Spanish word on one card and the English on another, shuffle the pairs and lay them face down.
10.
Keep a vocabulary notebook. Every time you come across a new word or phrase, record it in the notebook to review later.
